经梁陶弘景（456～536）进行增补

改名为《肘后百一方》。金杨用道又参考宋唐慎微的《证类本草》等书

再度进行修订增补

取名《广肘后备急方》。现今流通的葛洪《肘后备急方》系经杨用道再补的本子。由于历经多人修订增补

加以年代久远

Abstract

The handbook

revised by Tao Hong Jing of Liang Dynasty

reflects to a certain extent the level of Chinese medicine from one side in the period from Jin to South-North Dynasties（265～589 A.D.）. The chief aim of the author tended to afford remedies available even in the vill- ages out-of-the-way under emergencies conditions.It contains the authentic descriptions of smallpox

tsutsugamushi

Qinghao（from which a new type of sesquiterpene-Qinghaosu was extracted）as a remedy for malaria

early beginning of modern immunological idea and some techniques in treating foreign body in the esophagus

abdominocentesis

etc. All these show that the handbook has attained a brilliant scientific achievements in the world’s ancient history of medicine.
