OBSERVATION ON THE EFFECT OF QINGHAOSU IN TREATING CHLOROQUINE RESISTANT MALARIA:REPORT OF 65 CASES
a project of 3-day’s course treatment(Qing- haosu 5.4 g orally or 0.8-1.0 g intramuscularly)was administered to 65 chloroquine- resistant malarial cases
including local children and outside adults. It is more effective as compared with those treated by Pyronaridine phosphate at the sameperiod. The authors hold that this is a better and safer project. The anti-malarial effect of Qinghaosu
the recrudescence after treatment and the factors affecting its effect are analyzed and discussed. It is suggested that Qinghaosu is a schizonticide. It must be used in combination with primaquinine in order to eradicate gametocyte of malignant malaria and prevent the recurrence of tertian malaria.
