In order to investigate further into the mechanism of acupuncture effect on coronary heart disease

the authors used the Kubicek impedance plethymography as a device to detect the cardiac output both in coronary heart disease patients with angina pectoris and normal persons as control by puncturing Neiguan points. The results were: In 35 patients

the stroke volume before and after acupuncture were 62.53 ml and 60.77 ml respectively without statistical significance （P>0.5）.On average

the cardiac output/m

before puncture were 4.24 Ⅰ and it decreased 0.26 l after puncture; the heart rate before puncture were 68.57/m and decreased 2.26/m after puncture; while the cardiac index were 2.56 before puncture and decreased 0.13 after puncture. All three was statistically significant （P<0.05）.The cardiac output

stroke volume heart rate and cardiac index in the group of heart disease patients before and after rest in bed present no significant changes. Above mentioned parameters in normal persons

before and after acupuncture or rest

also showed no significant differences.
