Study of the Antimalarial Mechanism and Synergic Action of "Qinghaosu" (A Sesquiterpene lactone from Artemisia annua L)
the antimalarial mechauism of Qinghaosu doesn’t reveal competitive inhibition to the metabolism of folic acid
it might act through some other mechanism (such as the disturbance of the metabolism of nucleic acid and sugar) which needs further investigation. The antimalarial action was strengthened by the combined use of Qinghaosu and TMP. It prevents the recurrence of the disease. The author suggests that the drug should be identified through clinical application.
