Abstract
The cellular pharmacological researchof an effective ingredient of Chinese medi-cinal herb on cultured neonatal rat heartcells was reported. The results showed that the3、4-Dihydroxyacetophenone(extract of Ilexpubescens Hook.et Arn.var.glaber Chang)hadcertain repressive effect on the rate
extent andstrength of the heart cell beating
as wellas some regulatory effect on its rhythm.Itshowed marked antagonistic action on theAconitine induced arrhythmia and tachycar-dia
and also had the same action on therate and rhythmic change induced by theIsoprenaline and Ouabain to some extent. The results also showed that the heart cellculture is indeed a simple and effectiveway for screening cardiovascular drugs andfurther investigating the basic theory ofwestern and traditional Chinese medicine.
