Exploration on the Relationship Between Propagated Sensation along Channels and Variation in Luminescence of Acupuncture Points
The relationship between the propagatedsensation along the channels and the varia-tion of luminescence of the acupuncturepoint during needling on 23 subjects wasobserved quantitatively. On 17 cases
a signi-ficant decline of luminescence at the Shang-yang point was observed when a promi-nent descending propagated sensation alongthe Large Intestine Channel occurred dur-ing puncturing the ipsilateral Quchi point.Preliminary observations tend to show thatthe more intense the needling sensation isthe more the luminescence intensity dec-lines;the faster the needling sensation pro-pagates
the faster the luminescence intensitydeclines. The other 6 cases without promin-ent propagation sensation along the channelsshowed no obvious changes in luminescenceintensity.Control experiments showed signi-ficant different results.
