Effect and Mechanism of Yinchen Wuling Powder on Atherosclerosis Rats
Objective To study the effect and mechanism of Yinchen Wuling Powder(Powder of Oriental Wormwood and Five Herbs with Poria) on atherosclerosis(AS) rats. Methods Totally 70 Wistar rats were randomized into normal group
model group
Yinchen Wuling Powder group
and Gypenosides group. The AS models were made by feeding greasy food for producing AS plague in aorta. The serum lipid
blood rheology
uhrastructure of aorta tissues
and bcl-2 mRNA expression of VSMC were tested after one month to see the changes. Results Yinchen Wuling Powder could obviously decrease the total cholesterol
triglyceride
and low den- sity lipoprotein cholesterol;increase the high density lipoprotein cholesterol;reduce the blood viscosity
packed cell volume
and platelet adhesion rate;maintain the aorta structure;and lower the bcl-2mRNA expression. The effect was better than that of Gypeno- sides. Conclusion Yinchen Wuling Powder has a significant effect on AS and its functional mechanism may lie in lowering the bcl-2 mRNA expression.
