Distribution of TCM Syndromes in the Diabetic Neuropathy
Objective To study the distribution features of TCM syndromes in the diabetic neuropathy. Methods Totally 114 diabetics with neuropathy were differentiated and classified according to the criteria of TCM syndrome differentiation. Results (1)The incidence of simple syndrome of Qi deficiency syndrome
fire-heat syndrome
blood stasis syndrome
yin deficiency syndrome
yang deficiency syndrome
phlegm damp syndrome
and blood deficiency syndrome was 49.12%
38.59%
36.84%
27.19%
14.91%
8.77% and 0.88% respectively. (2)At the first stage of diabetic neuropathy
the incidence of qi deficiency and fire-heat syndromes was higher (67.65%
32.35%); at the second stage
the incidence of blood stasis
yin deficiency and yang deficiency syndromes was obviously increased (52.11%
26.76%
11.27%); at the third stage
the incidence of yin deficiency and yang deficiency syndromes increased to the utmost (both 100%). (3)At the first stage of diabetic neuropathy
the incidence of simple syndrome was 67.65%; at the second stage
the incidence of two syndromes combined was 57.75%; and at the third stage
the incidence of three syndromes combined was 55.56%. (4)There were 15 forms of combinated syndromes. At the first stage of diabetic neuropathy
the incidence of qi deficiency and fire-heat syndromes was higher (35.3%
32.4%). At the second stage
the incidence of fire-heat and blood stasis syndrome
fire-heat syndrome
and qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome was higher (19.7%
18.3%
14.1%)
while at the third stage
the incidence of yin-yang deficiency and blood stasis syndrome was higher (55.6%). Conclusion The qi deficiency syndrome
fire-heat syndrome
blood stasis syndrome
yin deficiency syndrome
yang deficiency syndrome and phlegm damp syndrome are the basic syndromes of diabetic neuropathy and they are related with the development of pathological conditions.
