Objective To observe the clinical effect of puncturing Zusanli（ST 36）to prevent the side reaction of gastroscopy for upper digestive tract phymatosis.Methods The 87 patients of upper digestive tract phymatosis were randomized into two groups.The treatment group（43 cases）was treated by dicaine spray and puncturing Zusanli（ST 36）

and the control group（44 cases）was treated by dicaine spray.The two groups were compared to see the difference in preventing the side reaction of gastroscopy.Results There was a statistical difference between the two groups in acupuncture instant pain

and total score of acupuncture instant reaction（P<0.05）.Conclusion Puncturing Zusanli（ST 36）is remarkably effective in preventing the side reaction of gastroscopy for upper digestive tract phymatosis.
