Clinical Observation on the Effect of Shugan Lidan Paidu Decoction on 38 Patients with Wilson Disease
Objective To observe the effect of Shugan Lidan Paidu Decoction(Decoction for regulating liver and gall bladder and removing toxin) on Wilson disease(WD).Methods The 50 WD patients were randomized into the treatment group(38 cases) and control group(20 cases). The treatment group was administered with Chinese medicines functioning to regulate liver and gall bladder and remove toxin while the control group was given Penicillamine
30 days as one course. After 3 courses of treatment
the effect of both groups and the changes in urinary copper
Kayser-Fleischer(K-F) ring
serum copper
serum ceruloplasmin(CP) and serum copper oxidase were observed. Results The total effective rate of treatment group and control group was 73.68% and 70.00% respectively
without significant difference(P>0.05)
but there was no side effect in the treatment group and changes in the related biochemical indices were found as well. Conclusion Shugan Lidan Paidu Decoction is safe and effective in the treatment of WD.It possibly improves the transportation and transformation mechanism of copper-toxin.
