Clinical Observation on Therapeutic Effect of Intelligence Benefit Acupuncture Therapy on 37 Children of Mental Retardation
Objective To observe and evaluate the therapeutic effect of Benefit-Intelligence-Acupuncture Therapy (BIAT) on children suffering from mental retardation (MR). Methods The 100 patients were randomized into acupuncture group and control group
50 in each. The acupuncture group
in which the data of 37 patients was complete
was treated by BIAT
and the control group
in which the data of 36 patients was complete
treated by medicine. Both groups were treated for 3 treatment courses
4 weeksas one course. The comprehensive therapeutic effect of the two groups was compared to evaluate the influence of acupuncture on intelligence quotient (IQ) of MR patients. Results The total effective rate of acupuncture group amounts to 78.4%
better than 30.56% of the control group(P<0.01). IQ of two groups was improved but the acupuncture group was better than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion BIAT can improve IQ of MR children with good clinical effect.
