Objective To observe the effect and safety of comprehensive therapy of reinforcing qi

detoxification and dissolving blood stasis for active rheumatoid arthritis（RA）.Methods Totally 60 active RA patients were randomized into two groups: control group（30 cases）

administered methotrexate and nimesulide for oral taking

and the study group（30 cases） treated with the herbal decoction to reinforce qi

detoxify and dissolve blood stasis for oral taking and external washing

and Xiaoaiping（Injection for treating cancers） for point injection.Both groups were kept in medication for 24 weeks in succession.Changes in symptoms and signs

erythrocyte sedimentation rate（ESR）

C-reactive protein（CRP）

and rheumatoid factor（RF） were observed after treatment.Results In the control group

the total effective rate was 76.7%.In the study group

the total effective rate was 93.3%.The difference was statically significant（P<0.05）.Symptoms and signs

ESR

CRP

and RF of both groups were all improved after treatment（P<0.01）.The difference between groups was statically significant（P<0.05）.Conclusion The comprehensive treatment of reinforcing qi

detoxification and dissolving blood stasis is effective in decreasing ESR

CRP

and RF of active RA patients.It can relieve the clinical symptoms efficiently.
