Effect of Jianpi Yiqi Formula on Exercise-induced Muscle Soreness Syndrome in Antagonistic Sports Athletes in High Intensity Training
Objective To observe the effect of Jianpi Yiqi Formula(Formula for Reinforcing Spleen Qi) on exercise-induced muscle soreness syndrome in antagonistic sports athletes in high intensity training. Methods Fifty antagonistic athletes in high intensity winter training with exercise-induced muscle soreness syndrome were ranodomized into two groups with 25 cases in each. The medication group was administered Jianpi Yiqi Recipe for oral taking. The control group was given placebo in the same form. The changes in indices of hemoglobin(Hb)
urea nitrogen(BUN)
creatine kinase(CK)
serum testosterone(T)
cortisol(C)
immunoglobulins A(IgA)
M(IgM)
and G(IgG) in two groups were observed. Results Twelve athletes suffered from muscle soreness syndrome in control group while four athletes had it in medication group
the difference between was significant(P<0.05).After three-week intensive training
in both groups the level of Hb and T decreased significantly(P<0.01) while BUN increased significantly(P<0.05)
indicating appearance of fatigue syndrome. The level of CK increased significantly(P<0.01)
and it was significantly lower in medication group than in control group(P<0.05).Before and after training
immunoglobulins of both groups were not significantly difference from each other(P>0.05).Conclusion Jianpi Yiqi Formula could prevent exercise-induced muscle soreness syndrome by decreasing the level of CK.
