Clinical Observation on 30 Hypertension Patients of Liver Yang Hyperactivity Treated by Acupuncture at Taichong(LR 3)
Objective To observe the effect of single point acupuncture at Taichong(LR 3) on lowering blood pressure in patients with hypertension. Methods Sixty hypertension patients with the syndrome of liver yang hyperactivity were randomized into acupuncture group and Captopril group
30 in each. After medical elution for 7 days
the acupuncture group was treated with acupuncture at Taichong(LR 3) of both sides
once a day
while the Captopril group was administered Captopril
12.5mg each time
twice a day. Both groups were treated for 7 days in succession. The changes of blood pressure
symptom scores and heart rate were observed. Results After treatment
the systolic pressure
the 24-hour average systolic pressure and diastolic pressure
symptom scores
and decrease of heart rate were all significantly different from those before treatment(P<0.01).But the decrease of average diastolic pressure of 24h dynamic blood pressure of both groups was not significant in statistics(P>0.05). Conclusion The effect of acupuncture at Taichong(LR 3) on lowering blood pressure and improving the symptoms of hyperactivity of liver yang was better than that of Captopril.Acupuncture can decrease the heart rate at the same time of lowering blood pressure.
