Objective To observe the effect and safety of herbal decoction Liangx ue Huayu Formula （Prescriptions for cooling blood and dissolving blood stasis） o n the patients with wet aged macular degeneration （AMD）. Methods Totally 109 eyes of 90 wet AMD cases were treated with the herbal decoction Liangxue Huayu Formul a for six months in succession. Average visual a cuity

and 17 eyes （15.6%） decreased in visual acuity. After 3 and 6 months’ treatment

and accumulated damage were not significantly different from those before treatment （P>0.05）. There were 17 cases with sli g ht adverse reactions. Conclusion The herbal decoction L iangxue Huayu Formula is e ffective in the 6-month observation period for the wet AMD cases through sta bilizing the conditions of retinal hemorrhage

exudation

and accumulated damage with low incidence of untoward reactions. It’s a safe method for treatment.
