Effect of Modified Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction plus Western Medicine on Chronic Congestive Heart Failure:A Clinical Observation of 60 Cases
Objective To explore the effect of modified Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction (herbal decoction for removing blood stasis) plus western medicine on chronic congestive heart failure. Methods Totally 120 cases were randomized into two groups with 60 in each. The control group was treated with western medicine including nitrates and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) in routine dosage
based on which
the treatment group was administered modified Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction. Before treatment and after 2 courses of treatment
the indices of heart functions of the two groups were observed. Results After treatment
the left ventricle end-systolic volume (LVESV)
left ventricle end-diastolic volume (LVEDV)
stroke volume (SV)
and left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) of both groups were all improved than those before treatment (P<0.05).The LVESV
SV
and LVEF of the treatment group were all significantly superior to those of the control group (P<0.05).Compared with those before treatment
in both groups
the endothelin (ET) and angiotensin Ⅱ (AngⅡ) were decreased significantly (P<0.05)
but the aldosterone (ALD) and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) were not decreased significantly (P>0.05).In comparison with the control group
there was significant ET and AngⅡ decrease in the treatment group (P<0.05)
and the therapeutic effect of the treatment group was superior to the control. Conclusion Modified Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction used together with the western medicine can significantly improve the therapeutic effect in the treatment for chronic congestive heart failure.
