Effect of Electroacupuncture at Points of the Pericardium Meridian on Calreticulin Content and Expression in Myocardial Ischemia Reperfusion Injury Rats
Objective To study the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at points of the Pericardium Meridian of Hand-Jueyin on the calreticulin (CRT) content and expression in myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury rats and explore its mechanism. Methods Fifty Wistar rats were randomized into sham-operated group
ischemia reperfusion model group
EA Neiguan (PC6) group
EA Ximen (PC5) group
and EA Hegu (LI4) group
10 in each. The sham-operated group was operated only with threading but without ligation of coronary artery
and the other groups were all made ischemia reperfusion models. The left descending anterior branch of the coronary artery of the three acupuncture groups were ligated twenty minutes after acupuncture for 40 minutes. Under the observation of electrocardiogram
the above-mentioned points were treated with acupuncture again for twenty minutes
and then the ligation was stopped for reperfusion. One hundred minutes after threading in the sham-operated group and 60 minutes after reperfusion in the model and all acupuncture groups
the abdominal venous blood and myocardial sample were taken for observing CRT content and expression. Results In the ischemia reperfusion model group
there was significant difference in the myocardial CRT expression
compared with the sham-operated group (P<0.05). In the EA Neiguan (PC6) and EA Ximen (PC5) groups
the serum CRT content was significantly increased and myocardial CRT expression was strengthened
compared with the ischemia reperfusion model group (P<0.01). In the EA Hegu (LI4) group
the result was similar with that of the ischemia reperfusion model group (P>0.05)
without statistical difference. Conclusion EA stimulation of points of the Pericardium Meridian can significantly increase the content and expression of CRT
making the myocardial injury caused by ischemia reperfusion reduced.
