Textual Research on the Xuemai Recorded in the Classic of Miraculous Pivot
Through the textual research on the TCM anatomical terms of Jing
Mai
Jingmai
Jingsui
Xuemai
etc.
which describe the tissue with the function of "receiving blood
transporting and transforming blood"
it was discovered that Xuemai (blood channel) in the classic of Miraculous Pivot with its meaning and extension was the most suitable expression to reflect the nature of blood vessels in mordern medicine. Therefore
we put forward to definite the word Xuemai (blood channel) as the collective term of blood vessel system of TCM
and try to standardize the knowledge of TCM on blood channel and its pathological changes
for providing the theoretical basis for TCM for treating the diseases of blood vessels.
