Irritable Bowel Syndrome Treated by Spinal Orthopedic Manipulation:A Clinical Observation on 105 Cases
Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of Chinese Spinal Orthopedic Manipulation on irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).Methods Totally 210 IBS cases in affecting condition were randomized into spinal orthopedic manipulation group(research group)and medicinal group(control group)with 105 in each. The research group was treated with Chinese Spinal Orthopedic Manipulation
and the control group was administered Dicetel(pinaverium bromide)for oral taking
50mg each time
three times a day. Both groups were treated for 2 weeks. The symptoms of pre-and post-treatment were scored by Bristol Stool Scale(BSS)
and the improvement rate BSS was used to evaluate the therapeutic effect. Results The difference of BSS scres between the two groups after treatment was significant(P<0.01)
and the improvement rate of BSS scores of research group were significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.01).Conclusion The displacement of intervertebral disc of thoracic and lumbar vertebrae may be directly related with the incidence of IBS.Correcting the displacement of intervertebral disc of thoracic and lumbar vertebrae for relieving the stimulation or oppression to nerves and vessels is an effective treatment for IBS.
