Effect of Different Intensities of Electroacupuncture on the Expression of C-reactive Protein and Interleukin-6 in Adipose Tissues of Simple Obesity Rats
Objective To investigate the effect of electroacupuncture on the expression of C-reactive protein(CRP) and interleukin-6(IL-6) in adipose tissues of rats with simple obesity and compare the difference of different intensities of electroacupuncture for weight loss. Methods Ten male SD rats on normal diet were taken as the control group in the experiment. The obesity rat models were made by high fat diet and the 30 successful modles were randomized into model group
acupuncture group Ⅰ
and acupuncture group Ⅱ
with 10 in each. The acupuncture group Ⅰ and Ⅱ were treated with electroacupuncture at unilateral Zusanli(ST 36) and Sanyinjiao(SP 6)
and stimulated by 1V and 2V respectively
10min each time
once a day
14 days in succession.Lee’s indices of all groups before and after treatment were calculated respectively
total cholesterol(TC)
triglyceride(TG)
high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)
and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) were determined
and the expression of CRP and IL-6 mRNA in adipose tissues were detected by RT-PCR technique. Results After electroacupuncture
Lee’s indices
expression of CRP and IL-6 mRNA in adipose tissues
the content of TC and TG of acupuncture groups were significantly decreased in comparing with the model group(P<0.05 or P<0.01)
and the decrease in the acupuncture group Ⅱ was more significant than in the acupuncture group Ⅰ(P<0.05).The content of LDL-C and HDL-C of acupuncture groups was statistically different from that of the model group(P<0.05 or P<0.01)
but there was no statistical difference between acupuncture group Ⅰ and Ⅱ(P>0.05).Conclusion Electroacupuncture decreases the expression of CRP and IL-6 mRNA in adipose tissues and improves the inflammatory state of obese rats
in addition
2V stimulation produces better effect than 1V stimulation.
