Effect of Electro-acupuncture and Psychological Intervention on the Cerebral Working Ability of Internet Addiction Disorder Patients
Objective To observe the effect of electro-acupuncture and psychological intervention on the cerebral working speed and accuracy and encephalofluctuogram(EFG) of internet addiction disorder(IAD) patients and to explore the possible mechanism. Methods Totally 120 IAD patients selected according to the enrollment criteria were randomized into electro-acupuncture group
psychological intervention group
and electro-acupuncture plus psychological intervention(comprehensive) group
with 40 in each.The electro-acupuncture group was treated with electro-acupuncture at Baihui(GV20)
Sishencong(EX-HN1)
Hegu(LI4)
Neiguan(PC6)
Taichong(LR3)
and Sanyinjiao(SP6)
once every other day
20 sections in all.The psychological intervention group was treated with cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT)
once every 4 days
10 sections in all.The comprehensive group was treated with both electro-acupuncture and psychological intervention. The changes in the scores of IAD and AnFei merv scale
and S-wave spectrum of ET were observed. Results After treatment
in the comprehensive group
the IAD score was significantly decreased(P<0.05)
and significantly lower than that in the electro-acupuncture group and psychological intervention group(P<0.05); the total reading words
reading speed
and index of mental capacity(IMC) were all significantly increased(P<0.05)
and number of missed words and error rate were significantly decreased(P<0.05);and the S2 system of ET was significantly increased(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of electro-acupuncture with psychological intervention is effective in improving the cerebral functions of IAD patients. It improves the working speed and accuracy of brain through increasing the content of intracerebral glutamic acid(Glu).
