Objective To evaluate the effect of Ganfukang Decoction（Decoction for the liver diseases） on the non-alcoholic steatohepatitis（NASH） complicated with impaired glucose tolerance（IGT）.Methods Eighty-two patients of NASH complicated with IGT were randomized into two groups

41 cases in each.The Ganfukang group was treated with Ganfukang Decoction and the control group with Yiganling Tablets（silibin） and metformin for 3 months in succession.Body weight index（BMI）

liver function [including alanine aminotransferase（ALT）

aspartate aminotransferase（AST）

triglyceride（TG）

high density lipoprotein cholesterol（HDL-C）

and low density lipoprotein cholesterol（LDL-C）] were detected and the B-type ultrasonographic image score of liver was observed before and after treatment respectively.Results After three-month treatment

the total effective rate of Ganfukang group and the control group was 80.5% and 61.0% respectively

the difference was statistically significant（P<0.05）.BMI

and ultrasonography score of both groups were all improved to different degrees after treatment（P<0.05 or P<0.01）.There was no statistical difference in the BMI and FINS of the two groups（P>0.05）

the between-group comparison of other indexes showed superiority of the Ganfukang group to the control group（P<0.05 or P<0.01）.Conclusion Ganfukang Decoction is very effective for NASH complicated with IGT in reducing BMI
