35 cases
and control group
36 cases. Both groups were treated with acupuncture at Jianyu(LI 15)
Binao(LI 14)
Quchi(LI 11)
Shousanli(LI 10)
Waiguan(TE 5)
Yangxi(LI 5)
Zhongzhu(TE 3)
Biguan(ST 31)
Xuehai(SP 10)
Zusanli(ST 36)
Yanglingquan(GB 34)
Yinlingquan(SP 9)
Xuanzhong(GB 39)
and Sanyinjiao(SP 6).For the treatment group
the above-mentioned points of healthy side and affected side were stimulated
whilst for the control group
the points of affected side was stimulated only. Before and after treatment
the recovery stages of the affected limbs
movement functions
and ability of activities of daily living of the patients of both groups were evaluated according to the Brunnstrom stages
simplified Fugl-Meyer scores and Barthel indexes. Results There was statistical difference in the comparison of Brunnstrom stages of upper and lower limbs of the two groups before and after treatment(P<0.05)
and the statistical difference was also shown in the between-group comparison after treatment(P<0.05).The simplified Fugl-Meyer scores and Barthel indexes of both groups were significantly increased after treatment with the statistical difference(P<0.05).And the difference between the two groups after treatment and the difference of the two groups before and after treatment were statistically significant as well(P<0.05).Conclusion The opposing-needling acupuncture therapy is effectively promoting the recovery process of paralyzed limbs of hemiplegia patients after stroke
improving the movement function of their affected limbs
