Literature Analysis on the Effect-related Factors of Acupoint Applicati on for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Objective To analyze on the effect-related f actors of acupoint application for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) through a literature study. Methods With computer sea rch method
the literatures concerning the acupoint application for COPD from January 2001 to Apr il 2011 were collected from the Chinese Academic Periodical Full-text Database
VIP databases
Wanfang digital periodical and the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database CD-ROM.Then a statistical description of data was done with the use f r equency and percentage of medicines
acupoints
time
and duration of applicatio n.Results A total of 36 documents were collected
of the m
29 were qualified on es.The commonly used medicines for the acupoint application for COPD were Baiji ezi(semen sinapis albae)(89%)
Shengjiang(fresh ginger)(74%)
and Xixin(her ba asari)(74%).The commonly used acupoints were Feishu(BL 13)
Dazhui(GV 14)
Tiantu(CV 22)
Shanzhong(CV 17)
and Gaohuang(BL 43).The application time was mostly the 3 ten-day period of the hot season(55%)
and the duration of ap plication was mostly 2
6
h(59%).Conclusion The effect-related factors of acupoint application for COPD include medicines
acupoints
time
and stimulus intens ity
etc.Yet there is the lack of unified standards at present and the lack of the scientific evidence in describing its correlation with the therapeutic effect.
