Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Yangyin Yixin Decoction （nourishing yin and supplementing the heart decoction） combined with amiodarone on paroxysmal atrial fibrillation （PAF） .Methods Sixty-one PAF patients with dual qi-yin deficiency syndrome were randomized into treatment group of 31cases and control group of 30cases.The control group was given amiodarone orally

0.2g in the first week

three times daily

0.2g in the second week

twice daily

and 0.2g from the third week

once daily.The treatment group was added with Yangyin Yixin Decoction.Both groups were observed for 6months.The total effective rate

effective rate of syndrome and syndrome scores were observed and compared.Results The total effective rate of the treatment group and the control group was 87.10%and 76.67%

respectively.There was significant difference in the therapeutic efficacy between groups （P<0.05） .The total effective rate of TCM syndrome of the treatment group and the control group was 90.32% and 73.33%

respectively

with significant difference between groups （P<0.05） . The syndrome scores were significantly decreased in both groups after treatment （P<0.05or P<0.01）

especially in the treatment group （P<0.05） .Conclusion Yangyin Yixin Decoction combined with Aminodarone is effective for paroxysmal at- rial fibrillation with dual qi-yin deficiency syndrome

and the effect is superior to that of simple using Aminodarone.
