Effect of Kuijieling on the Expression of DNA Enzyme Ⅰ and Fascin Protein in Patients with Ulcerative Colitis
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect and mechanism of Kuijieling(TCM formula for ulcerative colitis)on ulcerative colitis(UC).Methods Eighty cases of UC were randomized into treatment group and control group
with 40 in each. The treatment group was given one dose of Kuijieling decoction daily and 1.0g of Sulfasalazine tablets each time
twice daily. The control group was given Sulfasalazine tablets. Both groups were treated for 8 weeks as one treatment course. The therapeutic effect was observed and the expression of DNA enzyme 1 and Fascin protein was detected before and after treatment. Results The total effective rate of the treatment group and control group was 92.5% and 72.5% respectively
with significant difference between groups(P<0.05).The expression of DNA enzyme 1 was(109.73±28.46)μg/L and(135.13± 36.10)μg/L before and after treatment respectively in the treatment group. The expression of DNA enzyme 1 was(106.50± 27.54)μg/L and(120.03±7.72)μg/L before and after treatment respectively in the control group. Both groups were significantly increased in the expression of DNA enzyme 1 after treatment(P<0.05or P<0.01)
especially in the treatment group (P<0.05).The negative rate of Fascin protein in the treatment group and control group was 86.49% and 66.67% respectively
with significant difference between groups(P<0.05).Conclusion Kuijieling is effective for UC
which can obviously improve the activity of DNA enzyme 1 and make Fascin protein negative.
