A Clinical Observation on Vital Qi-Supporting Liver-Coursing Therapy for 50 Cases of Thyroid Nodule
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of vital qi-supporting liver-coursing therapy on thyroid nodule. Methods One hundred thyroid nodule patients were randomized into treatment group and control group
with 50 in each. Both groups were asked to avoid iodine diet. The treatment group was added with vital qi-supporting liver-coursing formula one dose daily for 3 months. The Chinese medicine syndrome scores
thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)
nodule size and the high risk factor of malignant transformation were observed before and after treatment in both groups. Results The total effective rate of Chinese medicine syndrome was 88.0% and 18.0% in the treatment group and control group respectively
with significant difference between groups (P<0.05). The total effective rate of nodule size was 64.0% and 12.0% in the treatment group and control group respectively
with significant difference between groups (P<0.05). The Chinese medicine syndrome scores were significantly decreased after treatment in both groups
especially in the treatment group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in TSH within group or between groups (P>0.05). The maximum diameter and size of nodule and high risk factor score was significantly decreased in the treatment group after treatment (P<0.05)
with significant difference between groups (P<0.05). The maximum diameter and size of nodule in the control group was significantly increased after treatment (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in high risk factor score between before and after treatment in the control group (P>0.05).Conclusion Vital qi-supporting liver-coursing therapy can obviously relieve the symptoms
reduce nodule size and eliminate the high risk factor of malignant transformation for thyroid nodule.
