A Clinical Observation on Supplemented Yiguan Brew Combined with Transcatheter Hepatic Arterial Chemo-Embolization for 42 Cases of Primary Liver Cancer
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Supplemented Yiguan Brew (All-the-Way-Through Brew) combined with transcatheter hepatic arterial chemo-embolization (TACE) on primary liver cancer. Methods Eighty cases of advanced primary liver cancer were divided into the test group of 42 cases and control group of 38 cases according to the register number. Both groups were given TACE and Supplemented Yiguan Brew was added in the test group. The therapeutic effect was evaluated 16 weeks later. The serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels
liver function
Karnofsky scores
SaO2 levels and side effects in both groups were observed. Results The total remission rate in the test group and control group was 57.14% and 47.37% respectively
with a significant difference between groups (P<0.05). The AFP levels in both groups were significantly decreased (P<0.05). The AFP levels in the test group were significantly lower than those in the control group on the 21st and 28th day after TACE (P<0.05). The liver function improved in both groups on the 3rd day after TACE (P<0.05). The indicators of liver function on the 28th and 84th day were closed to those before TACE in the test group (P>0.05). The indicators of liver function on the 28th and 84th day were significantly higher than those before TACE in the control group (P<0.05). The indicators of liver function in the test group were significantly lower than those in the control group at the same time point after TACE (P<0.05). The Karnofsky scores and SaO2 levels were significantly increased in both groups after TACE (P<0.05). The Karnofsky score in the test group was significantly higher than that in the control group after TACE (P<0.05). The incidence of side effect in the test group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion Supplemented Yiguan Brew combined with TACE is effective for primary liver cancer with better efficacy
