Effect of Supplemented Qingxin Fupi Formula on Platinum-based Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting
Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Supplemented Qingxin Fupi Formula (Supplemented Heart-Clearing Spleen-Supporting Formula
S QFF) for platinum-based chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (C INV).Methods Totally 76CINV patients were randomized into the observation group (3 6cases) and control group (4 0cases).Both groups were given platinum-based chemotherapy. The patients in the observation group were orally taken 100ml SQFF once every 3 hours since one or two days before the chemotherapy
for 14days and following a latency of 7days.One treatment course las-ted for 21days.The vomiting degree
vomiting times
associated symptoms
body weight
Karnofsky score (K FS)
perform-ance status (P S)
the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (E ORTC) Quality of Life Questionnaires (Q LQ)
chemotherapy completion rate
liver function and kidney function were observed after two treatment courses. Results Compared with the control group
the vomiting degree decreased significantly in the observation group on the 1st
3rd and 7th day of chemotherapy (P<0.05).The effective rates of nausea and vomiting in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group on the 1st
3rd and 7th day of chemotherapy (P<0.05).There was no significant difference between groups in the full control rate (P>0.05).Comparing with the control group
the bloating
epigastric or hypochondri-ac fullness
belching
acid reflux
bitter taste
dry mouth
poor appetite
shortness of breath and fatigue were significantly re-lieved in the observation group on the 14th day of chemotherapy (P<0.05or P<0.01).The chemotherapy-done rate was 88.2%in the observation group
which was superior to 64.9%in the control group (P<0.05).The scores of KPS
PS and EORTC QLQ in the observation were superior to those in the control group (P<0.05).There was no significant difference be-tween groups in the toxic or side effect (P>0.05).Conclusion SQFF combined with platinum protocol is effective in inhibi-ting CINV
relieving digestive symptoms
increasing chemotherapy-done rate
improving quality of life and performance status and stabling bodyweight
