A Clinical Observation on Shuttle Moxibustion along Meridians Combined with Reflex Inhibition Mode for 30 Cases of Spastic Hemiplegia After Stroke
Objective To observe the effects of shuttle moxibustion along meridians combined with reflex inhibition mode on muscle tension and nerve function in patients with spastic hemiplegia after stroke and compare the therapeutic effect with monotherapy. Methods Ninety patients with spastic hemiplegia after stroke were randomized into the treatment group
first control group and second control group
with 30in each. The treatment group was given combo therapy of shuttle moxibustion along meridians and reflex inhibition mode.first control group and second control group was given shuttle moxibustion along meridians and reflex inhibition mode respectively. Each group was treated once daily
5times weekly for 20times.The therapeutic effect was observed and compared. The spasticity of elbow
wrist
knee and ankle was evaluated with modified Ash-worth Rating Scale and limb motor function and daily living ability was evaluated with neurologic deficit score(NDS)and activities of daily living(ADL)scale before and after treatment and during follow-up six months after treatment. Results The total effective rate of treatment group
first control group and second control group was 93.33%
63.33%and 73.33%respectively.The total effective rate of the treatment group was superior to those of both control groups(P<0.05).The Ash-worth scores in all groups were significantly decreased after treatment(P<0.05or P<0.01)except scores of knee in first control group and wrist in second control group. The improvement of elbow and knee in the treatment group was superior to that in both control groups after treatment and during follow-up(P<0.05or P<0.01).The scores of NDS and ADL were significantly decreased in all groups after treatment(P<0.01).The improvement of NDS scores and ADL scores in the treatment group was superior to that in both control groups after treatment and during follow-up(P<0.05).Conclusion The combo therapy of shuttle moxibustion along meridians and reflex inhibition mode can improve the muscle tension
nerve function and daily living ability for spastic hemiplegia after stroke
with a better therapeutic effect as compared with monotherapy.
