Effect of Xiaochuan Paste Acupointon Application on Inflammatory Cytokines of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease in Stable Phase: Based on the Method of Winter Disease Treated in the Summer
Objective To evaluate the effect and mechanism of Xiaochuan Paste (acupoint paste for asthma
XCAP) acupoint application on airway inflammation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in stable phase. Methods Sixty COPD patients in stable phase were randomized into treatment group and control group with 30 cases in each group. Both groups were given basic treatment. Then the treatment group and control group was given sticking therapy of XCAP and placebo respectively for 3 times in Sanfu (dog days). The white blood cell
neutrophil
interleukin-8 (IL-8) and secretory IgA (sIgA) in induced sputum were detected before and after 6-month treatment. Results Comparing with before treatment and the control group
the neutrophil ratio and IL-8 content was significantly decreased in the treatment group after treatment (P<0.05). Comparing with before treatment and the control group
the sIgA content was significantly increased in the treatment group after treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion The action mechanism of XCAP may be reducing the local inflammatory response of airway and enhancing the protection of airway mucosa.
