Effect of Blood-Quickening Network Vessels-Freeing Decoction Combined with Electro-Acupuncture on Neurological Function and Activity of Daily Living of Ischemic Stroke Patients
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Blood-Quickening Network Vessel-Freeing Decoction combined with electro-acupuncture on early rehabilitation of ischemic stroke. Methods Totally 112 cases of ischemic stroke were randomized into the treatment group of 60 cases and control group of 52 cases. Both groups were given basic treatment. The treatment group was added with self-made Blood-Quickening Network Vessels-Freeing Decoction and electro-acupuncture.The control group was given ginkgo biloba extract 15ml and normal saline 250ml once daily by intravenous infusion. The efficacy was observed in both groups after 30-day treatment. The simplified Fugl-Meyer Movement Scale (FMMS) was used to assess the nerve function and the Bathel index was used to assess the living ability before and after treatment. Results The FMMS scores in both groups were significantly improved after treatment (P<0.01)
especially in the treatment group (P<0.01).The total efficacy of therapeutic effect and living ability in the treatment group was 96.3% and 96.6% respectively
significantly higher than those in the control group (71.1% and 80.3%
P<0.01).Conclusion The combo therapy of Blood-Quickening Network Vessel-Freeing Decoction and electro-acupuncture is effective for the early rehabilitation of ischemic stroke. It can obviously improve the neurological function and quality of life with a better efficacy as compared with western medicine.
