Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of Qingfei Runzao Decoction (Lung-Clearing Dryness-Moistening Decoction) for postinfectious cough. Methods Sixty cases of postinfectious cough were randomized into the treatment group and control group
with 30 in each. The treatment group was given Qingfei Runzao Decoction one dose daily. The control group was given Keke Capsule (capsule for cough) 0.9g once and twice daily. The treatment lasted for 7 days. The TCM pattern efficacy
the onset time and disappearing time of cough were observed after treatment. The TCM symptom scores of cough frequency

especially in the treatment group(P<0.05).The onset time and disappearing time of cough in the treatment group were significantly shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05).The TCM pattern efficacy in treatment group and control group was 86.7% and 76.7% respectively
with a significant difference between groups(P<0.05).Conclusion Qingfei Runzao Decoction is effective for postinfectious cough and it can obviously relieve the TCM symptoms.
