Clinical Observation on Qi-Boosting Spleen-Fortifying Granules Combined with Western Medicine for 60 Cases of Stable Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease with Lung-Spleen Qi Deficiency Pattern
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of qi-boosting spleen-fortifying granules for stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)with lung-spleen qi deficiency pattern. Methods Totally 118cases of stable COPD with lungspleen qi deficiency pattern were randomized into the treatment group and control group
with 60and 58in each. Both groups were given salmeterol and fluticasone propionate inhalation powder twice daily. The treatment group was added with qiboosting spleen-fortifying granules twice daily. The control group was added with placebo granules twice daily. Both groups were treated for 3 months. The lung functions and BODE(body mass index
airflow obstruction
dyspnea and exercise capacity)scores were observed before and after treatment. Results The total effective rate of the treatment group and control group was 83.3% and 65.5% respectively
with a significant difference between groups(P<0.05).The forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1)and FEV1% was significantly improved in the treatment group after treatment(P<0.01).The FEV1% was significantly improved in the control group after treatment(P<0.05).The body mass index(BMI)
FEV%
6-minute walk distance(6MWD)
modified Medical Research Council(mMRC)dyspnea scale and BODE scores were significantly improved in the treatment group after treatment(P<0.01).The FEV%
6MWD
mMRC dyspnea scale and BODE scores were significantly improved in the control group after treatment(P<0.05or P<0.01).Conclusion The combo therapy of qiboosting spleen-fortifying granules and western medicine is effective for stable COPD patients with lung-spleen qi deficiency pattern. It can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms and increase the therapeutic effect.
