A Multicentered,Randomize-Controlled Trial of Integrative Medicine for Acute-on-Chronic(Subacute)Liver Failure
Objective To observe the effect of integrative medicine on the mortalit in patients with acute-on-chronic(subacute)liver failure. Methods A prospective
multicenter and randomized controlled study was conducted to randomize511patients into the treatment group(basic therapy+ TCM treatment+symptomatic and supportive treatment)and control group(basic therapy + symptomatic and supportive treatment)
with 360and 151in each. Both groups were treated for 8weeks and followed up to the 48th week. The mortality rate and survival time was observed in the 8th
12th
24th and 48th week after treatment. The therapeutic effect was evaluated in the 48th week. Results The mortality in the 8th
12th
24th and 48th week after treatment were 20.99%
22.61%
23.06%
and 25.99%in the treatment group
and 30.87%
32.21%
34.23%
and 34.23%in the control group
respectively
with significant differences between groups(P<0.05).The survival rate in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.01).The total effective rate of the treatment group and control group was 67.23% and 54.36% respectively
with a significant difference between groups(P<0.05).Conclusion The integrative medicine is effective for acute-on-chronic(subacute)liver failure with a low mortality rate and better efficacy.
