TCM Pattern Elements and Distribution Law of Hypokinesia Type and Rigid Type Parkinson’s Disease
Objective To study the TCM pattern elements and distribution law of hypokinesia type and rigid type Parkinson’s disease( PD). Methods Information of 100 patients with hypokinesia type and rigid type PD obtained by four diagnostic methods was gathered and the pattern elements were extracted. The Four Diagnostic Information Collection Sheet of PD was designed according to standardized terminology and expert opinions
and the general information
disease history
symptoms and diagnosis were included in the sheet. The database was established and the pattern elements were analyzed. Results Nine common symptoms of hypokinesia type and rigid type PD were contraction of limbs
lack of facial expression
clumsiness
unsteady gait
pain
stiff neck
head and chest leaning forward
and no limb tremor or no obvious limb tremor. The common pattern elements were phlegm( damp)
blood stasis
qi deficiency
and yang deficiency. The common disease location elements were liver
kidney and spleen. According to cluster analysis of 75 symptoms those frequency was greater than or equal to 10%
three patterns were obtained such as spleen-kidney qi deficiency with water-damp stasis obstruction pattern
liver-kidney yin-blood deficiency with blood stasis obstructing the network vessels pattern
and spleen-kidney yang deficiency with phlegm-damp stasis obstruction pattern. Conclusion Hypokinesia type and rigid type PD is a kind of root-deficiency tip-repletion pattern with tip-repletion in the beginning and root-deficiency as the disease progresses. The common pattern elements are phlegm( damp)
