Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Spleen-Supplementing Qi-Boosting Turbidity-Descending Formula（SQTF）combined with western medicine for Primary hypertension patients with abundant phlegm-dampness pattern.Methods Totally 166 cases of primary hypertension were randomized into the treatment group of 84 cases and control group of 82 cases.The control group was given Amlodipine Besylate Tablets（5 mg / tablet）and Enalapril Maleate Tablets（10 mg / tablet）.The treatment group was added with SQTF one dose daily.The therapeutic effect was observed after 8-week treatment.The blood pressure

especially SBP after 8-week treatment in the treatment group（P < 0.01）.The heart rate in the treatment group was significantly decreased after treatment and was significantly lower than that in the control group（P < 0.05 or P < 0.01）.The TCM symptoms scores such as dizziness or headache

pale mouth and poor appetite were significantly decreased in the treatment group after treatment（P < 0.01）and was significantly lower than those in the control group（P < 0.01）.The lipid level in the treatment group was significantly improved after treatment and was superior to that in the control group（P < 0.05 or P < 0.01）.Conclusion The combo therapy of SQTF and western medicine is effective for Primary hypertension patients with abundant phlegm-dampness pattern.It can relieve TCM symptoms
