Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Jianruan Siling Decoction（ 健软四苓汤） combined with western medicine on chronic hepatitis B patients with severe jaundice. Methods Totally 74 patients were randomized into the treatment group of 38 cases and control group of 36 cases. Both groups were given basic and symptomatic treatment. The treatment group was added with Jianruan Siling Decoction（健软四苓汤） one dose daily. The control group was added with intravenous infusion of 1000mg succinic acid ademetionine once daily. The therapeutic effect was observed after 4-week treatment. The levels of total bilirubin（ TBiL）

Conclusion The combo therapy of Jianruan Siling Decoction（健软四苓 汤） and western medicine is effective for chronic hepatitis B patients with severe jaundice and can improve hepatic funtion and shorten the duration of jaundice.
