Clinical Observation on Shengxue Pills(生血丸) in Preventing and Treating 32 Cases of Chemotherapy-Induced Myelosuppression
Objective To observe the efficacy of Shengxue Pills(pills to promote the production of blood
生血丸)for chemotherapy-induced myelosuppression. Methods Totally 64cases of non-small cell lung cancer
colon cancer
stomach cancer and breast cancer were randomized into the treatment group and control group
with 32in each. Both groups were given conventional chemotherapy. The patients in the treatment group began to taken Shengxue Pills 7days before chemotherapy
while the patients in the control group were given Yixuesheng Capsules(益血生).One treatment course lasted for 28days.The counts of white blood cell(WBC)
hemoglobin(HGB)and platelet(PLT)were detected before treatment and on the 7th
14th and 21st day of treatment in both groups. The levels of CD3+
CD4+
CD8+
CD4+/CD8+
natural killer(NK)cells
interleukin-2(IL-2)
IL-10and interferon-γ(INF-γ)were detected before and after treatment. The scores of symptoms and Karnofsky performance status(KPS)were observed. Results The count of WBC was significantly decreased in the control group on the 7th day of chemotherapy(P<0.05).The counts of WBC were significantly increased in both groups on 21st day of chemotherapy(P<0.05)
especially in the treatment group(P<0.05).The levels of CD3+
CD4+and CD4+/CD8+were significantly increased in the treatment group(P<0.05).The levels of CD3+and NK cells were significantly increased in the control group(P<0.05).Comparing with the control group
the levels of CD4+and CD4+/CD8+were significantly increased in the treatment group(P<0.05).The levels of IL-2and INF-γwere significantly increased in both groups after treatment(P<0.05).The symptom scores were significantly decreased in both groups after treatment(P<0.01).The scores of KPS were significantly increased in both groups after treatment(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between groups in the scores of symptoms and KPS after treatment(P>0.05). Conclusion Shengxue Pills can protect bone marrow function
enhance immune function
relieve clinical symptoms and improve quality of life
with a better efficacy in increasing the levels of CD4+and CD4+/CD8+as compared with Yixuesheng Capsules.
