Clinical Observation on Oral and External Administration of TCM Herbs for 30 Cases of Acute Attack of Gouty Arthritis With Damp-Heat Stasis Obstruction Syndrome
Objective To observe the efficacy of Huangqin Qingre Chubi Capsules [capsules of Huangqin(Scutellariae Radix) to clear heat and eliminate impediment]combined with Furong Plaster for acute attack of gouty arthritis. Methods Sixty patients were randomized into the treatment group and control group
with 30 in each. Both groups were given 7. 5 mg Meloxicam Dispersible Tablets twice daily. The treatment group was added with Huangqin Qingre Chubi Capsules 3 capsules each time and 3 times daily with oral administration and Furong Plaster(applied topically for 6h each time and twice daily. The treatment lasted for 2 weeks. The onset time for joint pain
TCM syndrome score
visual analogue scale( VAS) pain score
erythrocyte sedimentation rate( ESR)
C-reactive protein(CRP)
uric acid(UA) level were observed before and after treatment in both groups
and efficacy and safety were evaluated. Results The total effective rate of the treatment group and control group was 100% and 93. 3%respectively
with a significant difference between groups( P < 0. 01). The average onset time for pain in the treatment group and control group was(2. 60 ± 0. 67) d and(4. 00 ± 0. 95) d respectively
with a significant difference between groups(P < 0. 01). The total TCM syndrome score
VAS score
ESR level and CRP level were significantly decreased in both groups after treatment( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01). The treatment group was superior to the control group in reducing the total TCM syndrome score
VAS score
ESR level
CRP level and UA level(P < 0. 05 or P <0. 01). There was no obvious adverse reaction in both groups. Conclusion Huangqin Qingre Chubi Capsules combined with Furong Plaster is effective for acute attack of gouty arthritis. The treatment can relieve pain and reduce the levels of ESR
