XU Xian’s experience in treating refractory warts was introduced in this article. XU Xian often uses combined therapy such as internal and external therapy or integrative medication to treat refractory warts. The internal medication is based on syndrome differentiation. Flat warts are treated with exterior-resolving and dampness-dispelling therapy. Common warts are treated with blood-quickening and toxin-resolving therapy. Herbal washing and packet therapy are often used in the external medication

with a heavy use of Xiangjiapi（ Periplocae Cortex）.
