Complex Network Analysis of LI Youlin’s Medication Rules in Treating Chronic Cough
Objective To research the distribution patterns and compatibility laws of Prof. LI Youlin’s medication rules in treating chronic cough by complex network analysis. Methods Chinese herbs used in 679 cases of chronic cough by LI Youlin were chosen as data source. The association relationship among the top 100 herbs was constructed with mutual information relevance networks. The weight was 1. The herb complex networks visualization diagram was drawn with Pajek2. 0. The visualization diagram included different types of node diagram and k-core diagram. The node connected components
values
clustering coefficient and network core were calculated. Results There were 199 herbs used in 679 patients. There were 15 nodes with a value of 5 in the property indicators of top100 herbs. There were 9 nodes with a clustering coefficient of 1. There were 12 interconnecting sub-networks in the entire network. There were 27 nodes with a k-core value of 3. The 27 nodes with a k-core value of 3 arranged in the network center to form a 3-core network diagram. A 100-herb network node classification diagram was drawn by using the highest value node as the central node of entire network. The herb combinations of qi-boosting spleen-fortifying herb
warming-supplementing and diffusing herb
cough-suppressing phlegm-transforming herb
qi-rectifying herb and heavy settling spirit-quieting herb were shown in the network center. The herb combinations of spleen-fortifying herb
dampness-transforming herb
astringent herb
spirit-quieting herb
food-dispersing herb
qi-rectifying herb
coughsuppressing phlegm-transforming herb
yin-enriching herb
heat-clearing herb
yang-warming herb
exterior-resolving herb and blood-supplementing blood-quickening herb sequentially arranged around. Conclusion Complex network analysis shows that LI Youlin often uses yang-warming spleen-fortifying and lung-boosting herb or acrid dissipating herb
cough-suppressing phlegm-transforming herb and astringent lung-constraining herb and tries to avoid using cold bitter herb or rich slimy herb.
