Effect of Chenpi Liyan Mixture on the Permeability of Abdominal Capillary and Xylene-Induced Ear Swelling in Mice
Objective To research the possible mechanism of Chenpi Liyan Mixture for pharyngitis. Methods Fifty mice were randomized into the control group
Yinhuang Tablets group and Chenpi Liyan Mixture large-dose
middle-dose and small-dose groups
with 10 in each. The Chenpi Liyan Mixture large-dose
middle-dose and smalldose groups were gavaged with 0. 3 ml /10 g original liquid
1-time dilution of the original liquid with normal saline and2-time dilution of the original liquid with normal saline of Chenpi Liyan Mixture respectively. The Yinhuang Tablets group was gavaged with 0. 3 ml /10 g Yinhuang Tablets suspension( concentration = 0. 026 g /ml). The control group was gavaged with the same volume of normal saline. Each group was gavaged once daily for 5 consecutive days. Peritoneal washings were collected to measure absorbance values. Fifty mice were randomized into 5 groups with 10 in each. The grouping and administration method was as same as above. The right ear was painted with xylene one hour after the last administration. Both ears were aligned and a hole puncher was used to take the same parts of binaural ear pieces for weighing and calculating the ear swelling 4 hours later. Results Comparing with the control group
the absorbance values of peritoneal washings and ear swelling were significantly decreased in the Chenpi Liyan Mixture large-dose
middle-dose and small-dose groups and Yinhuang Tablets group( P < 0. 01). There was no significant difference between Chenpi Liyan Mixture groups and Yinhuang Tablets group in the absorbance values of peritoneal washings and ear swelling( P > 0. 05). There was no significant difference between Chenpi Liyan Mixture groups in the absorbance values of peritoneal washings and ear swelling( P > 0. 05). Conclusion Chenpi Liyan Mixture is effective for pharyngitis. Its mechanism may be relevant to reducing the permeability of abdominal capillary and xylene-induced ear swelling in mice.
