JIAO Shude’s Experience in Treating Hypertension with Four-Type Syndrome Differentiation
This paper attempts to introduce professor JIAO Shude’s experience in treating hypertension with fourtype syndrome differentiation method. He has classified the disease into four types
namely hyperactivity of liver yang
yin deficiency with liver hyperactivity
kidney essence deficiency and upward flowing of phlegm. Though the clinical cases are complicated and confused
the main ones are the four types stated above or their combined forms. He has emphasized that in treating hypertension
doctors must differentiate the symptoms and identify the causes
treat both principal and secondary aspect of disease and treat diseases based on syndrome differentiation. In this way
the stomach will not be affected with tonification method
healthy qi will not be damaged with attacking pathogens
yang will not be injured with clearing method and yin will not be consumed with pungent medicine.
