Effect of Jianpi Qinghua Formula on Micro-Inflammatory Indicators in Chronic Renal Failure Patients with Spleen Deficiency and Dampness-Heat Syndrome
Objective To observe the influence of Jianpi Qinghua Formula on renal function of chronic renal failure( CRF) patients with spleen deficiency and dampness-heat syndrome and the possible anti-micro-inflammation mechanism of the formula. Methods Seventy cases of CRF patients were randomly divided into a traditional Chinese medicine( TCM) group and a western medicine group
with 35 cases in each. Another 10 people with healthy physical examination results were admitted into a healthy control group. Patients of two groups were given conventional western medicine treatment
while in addition
the TCM group was treated with Jianpi Qinghua Formula. After a 12-week treatment
serum creatinine( Scr) and 24-hour urine protein quantity in two groups were tested. Levels of C reactive protein( CRP)
interleukin-6( IL-6) and advanced glycationend products( AGEs). were compared in three groups. Results Levels of CRP
IL-6 and AGEs in both TCM group and western medicine group were significantly higher than that in healthy control group before treatment( P < 0. 05). After treatment
levels of Scr
CRP
IL-6
and AGEs in TCM group were significantly decreased and were significantly lower than those in western medicine group( P < 0. 05). There were no statistical differences in 24-hour urinary protein quantity before and after treatment in either TCM or western medicine groups( P > 0. 05). Conclusion Jianpi Qinghua Formula combined with western medicine can improve renal function of CRF patients with spleen deficiency and dampness-heat syndrome
and its anti-micro-inflammation mechanism might be related with regulating the levels of CRP
