The common problems in the treatments of critical patients in Pneumology Department of general hospitals are lack of holistic view
rejection of traditional Chinese medicine( TCM) and irrational application of Chinese medicinals. TCM department are often invited to consult on severe coughing and asthma
constantly fevering
gastrointestinal symptoms
difficulty in urination
refractory edema and so on. TCM theories should be the basics in consultations and TCM’s unique features should be carried on

dynamic view and healthy qi view. We need to take syndrome differentiation and treatment as a principle while in adherence to the combination of western medicine and TCM. The manifestaions of the disease in critical patients are complicated and changing fast so treatments should focus on the main stream of the disease
