Clinical Observation on 20 Cases of Bronchial Asthma with Excessive Heart Fire Syndrome Treated with Qingjun Xiexin Decoction
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Qingjun Xiexin Decoction on bronchial asthma patients with excessive heart fire syndrome. Methods Forty bronchial asthma patients with excessive heart fire syndrome were randomly divided into treatment group and control group
with 20 cases in each. The treatment group was given budesonide and formoterol fumarate powder for inhalation
1 suction per time
2 times a day
and Qingjun Xiexin Decoction 1 dose daily
while the control group was given the same inhalation therapy with the treatment group and the placebo of Qingjun Xiexin Decoction
all for 4 weeks. After the treatment
asthma controlled levels
ACT scores
TCM syndrome scores
pulmonary function including forced expiratory volume in one second( FEV1)
peak expiratory flow( PEF)
total serum Ig E
blood eosinophil count( EOS)
and the therapeutic efficacy of TCM syndromes were compared between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference in the asthma controlled levels between the two groups( P > 0. 05). The ACT scores improved
TCM syndrome scores
serum EOS and Ig E levels decreased
and FEV1 and PEF increased in both groups after the treatment( P > 0. 05). The TCM syndrome scores and serum total Ig E in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group after treatment( P < 0. 05).Observation on the efficacy of TCM syndromes showed that there were 3 cases( 15%) of clinical recovery
8 cases( 40%) with marked effects
6 cases( 30%) with normal effects
and 3 cases( 5%) with no effects in the treatment group( total efficiency of 85%)
while there was 1 case( 5%) of clinical recovery
4 cases( 20%) with marked effects
7 cases( 35%) with normal effects
and 8 cases( 40%) with no effects in the control group( total efficiency of 60%)
with a statistically significant difference between the two groups( P < 0. 05). Conclusion By improving clinical symptoms and reducing serum total Ig E
Qingjun Xiexin Decoction shows a promising clinical efficacy in treating bronchial asthma with excessive heart fire syndrome.
