Effect of Different Ingredient Proportion in Jiang Cu on Lactation of Rat Models with Postpartum Hypogalactia
Objective To observe the efficacy of different proportions of ingredients in Jiang Cu( JC) on postpartum hypogalactia rats so as to find a superior proportion. Methods Totally 96 female rats one day postpartum were randomly divided into control group
model group
Tongru Granules group and JC 1 to 9 groups
with 8 rats in each. Meanwhile 8 newborn baby rats were given for each female rat. Except for the control group
every group was injected with levodopa to induce the model of postpartum hypogalactia. No intervention was used on the control group and model group. The Tongru Granules group were given Tongru Granules( 8. 1 g / kg); JC 1- 9 groups were given JC( 13. 5 g /kg) with different proportions according to L9( 38) orthogonal table
all for 10 days. The serum levels of prolactin( PRL) were tested and the weight gains of baby rats were recorded on day 5 and day 10. Then the weight increasing rates and PRL increase rate were calculated on day 10. Results On day 5
the weight gains of baby rats in JC 1- 9 group and Tongru Granules group were significantly more than that in the model group( P < 0. 01); On day10
the weight gains of baby rats in JC 2

9 groups and Tongru Granules group were significantly more than that in the model group( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01). The PRL levels in the model group were significantly lower than that in the control group( P < 0. 01); the PRL levels in the JC 2

9 groups and Tongru Granules group were significantly higher than that in the model group( P < 0. 01). Conclusion JC could increase the PRL levels of hypogalactia rats induced by levodopa and weight gain of baby rats. Best effect can be achieved when the proportion in JC is 1000 g of ginger
