Randomize-Controlled Double-Blinded Study on Juanyin Xiefei Formula Combined with Western Medicine in Treating Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Objective To compare the clinical efficacy of Juanyin Xiefei Formula( JYXFF) and Qingre Huatan Formula( QRHTF) combined with western medicine separately in treating acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease( AECOPD) with phlegm and heat obstructing lung syndrome. Methods Totally 60 cases of AECOPD were randomly divided into treatment group of 31 cases and control group of 29 cases. All patients were routinely given western medicine treatment. The treatment group and the control group were given additional JYXFF and QRHTF respectively
one dose per day
for seven days. TCM syndrome score
dyspnea score( MMRC)
scores of the activity of accessory respiratory muscles were assessed before and after treatment. The number of days in hospital were recorded and serum levels of C-reactive protein( CRP) and procalcitonin( PCT) were detected before and after treatment. Results The total effective rates in the treatment group and the control group were 96. 43% and96. 29% respectively
with no significant difference( P > 0. 05). Compared with the control group
the scores of asthma the treatment group were significantly lower
with the MMRC scores improved significantly after treatments( P < 0. 05) and the hospitalization days shortened( P < 0. 05). As for the total scores of TCM syndromes and the activity of accessory respiratory muscles and serum CRP
PCT levels in the treatment group and control group showed no significant difference( P > 0. 05). Conclusion JYXFF could achieve the same clinical efficacy as QRHTF and when combined with western medicine
it could release the asthmatic symptoms
difficulty in breathing
shorten hospitalization days and help control bacterial infection.
