Objective To observe the clinical curative effect of Naofucong Decoction in treating patients with mild cognitive impairment with the syndrome of kidney deficiency and blood stasis. Methods Thirty-two patients with mild cognitive impairment with the syndrome of kidney deficiency and blood stasis were randomly divided into treatment group and control group

with 16 cases in each group. The treatment group was given Naofucong Decoction

one dose daily; the control group was given nimodipine tablets 10 mg

3 times a day orally

the treat course of the two groups were 3 months. Before and after treatment

the patients would be scored to determine the learning and memory function by Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale table on vocabulary

arithmetic

digit symbol

and blocks composition. At the same time

the object memory test

rapid vocabulary test and simple mental state examination（ MMSE） were carried out. Results After treatment

object memory and MMSE score were significantly improved（ P < 0. 05）

but there was no significant difference in digit symbol and rapid vocabulary（ P > 0. 05） in the treatment group. The object memory and MMSE score were significantly improved after treatment（ P < 0. 05）

while the changes of other indexes were not statistically significant（ P > 0. 05） in the control group. The differences in vocabulary

arithmetic and building blocks between before and after treatment in the treatment group were significantly different from those in the control group（ P < 0. 05）.Conclusion Naofucong Decoction can improve the function of learning and memory

as well as the mental state of patients with mild cognitive impairment.
